Divergent: a movie for post-apocalyptic lovers

Have you ever watched Divergent? It is a post-apocalyptic movie. Being a bookworm, I’ve already read the novel by Veronica Roth, based on the same name as the motion picture. So, this sparkled an inner curiosity to watch it, in order to make comparisons between this film with its book. It is a dystopian movie where we find ourselves in a world divided into 5 distinct factions based on human virtues:  Abnegation (the selfless), Amity (the peaceful), Candor (the honest), Dauntless (the brave) and Erudite (the intelligent). The remaining population is called the Factionless. They undergo a test, at the age of 16, which will indicate their suitable faction.

Beatrice Prior (Shailene Woodley) was born into Abnegation, the faction which runs the government. She finds herself in a complex situation when her results (Abnegation, Erudite, and Dauntless) turn out to be divergence, meaning a person having more than one faction which is a rare case. She is then told to keep it as a secret to herself as the government eliminates the divergents. It is due to the fact that the latter tends to think independently, thus cannot be kept under control by the state and is considered as threats as well. Tris then chooses Dauntless as her faction and faces several psychological tests in order to be accepted by her faction.

What I love about this movie is the protagonist, Shailene Woodley, she fits well into the character of Beatrice. She is fierce, at the same time caring. I also like the plot of the film Divergent, it is interesting as it depicts a possible future set in a dystopian society.

Barbie as the Island Princess: a movie for girls

Love girlish films? Check out Barbie as the Island Princess, where the voice cast features Kelly Sheridan (Ro / Rosella), Alessandro Juliani (Prince Antonio), Christopher Gazi (Sagi), Steve Marvel (Azul), and Susan Roman (Tika). Barbie can be seen playing Rosella in this musical film.

In this movie, we come across Ro, a 6-year-old child who ended up on an island after a shipwreck. So, she is raised by Sagi the red panda, Tika the curious elephant and Azul, a beautiful peacock. She learns how to speak and understand animal’s language while growing up. She is then discovered by the handsome Prince Antonio, who takes her back to his castle. However, upon her arrival in the kingdom of Apollonia, the islander will be disliked by the Queen and the King for her uncivilized behaviours and her ability to talk to animals. Soon, Antonio is forced to marry Princess Luciana because of his parents, while the lady is ordained by her mother, Queen Ariana, for this wedding. Little do we know that her majesty is plotting against the Apollonian kingdom to overthrow their empire by murdering the royal family.

Have a look at this animated movie Barbie as the Island Princess to discover whether Ro will be able to save Antonio’s family or not, after learning about this secret plot. I was attracted to the musical part of this film, it is wonderful and very catchy, especially the track I Need To Know. The story has a positive message, like about the fact that the Prince chooses Ro over her personality, not looks. Hope you guys will like this motion picture too.
