Warner Bros. has released some pretty good movies in the past month. It first launched the film “The Meg” by Jon Turteltaub on the 8th of August. This was followed by “Crazy Rich Asians” which was a huge success. On the 7th of September, the production “The Nun” hit the theatres. Thanks to this film, the studio has been at the first place of the box office for six consecutive weeks. Currently, the three motion pictures mentioned above are among the top four of the “Weekend Box Office” chart.
Directed by Corin Hardy, “The Nun” is the fifth instalment in The Conjuring Universe. It is a gothic supernatural horror movie written by Gary Dauberman. The film stars Demián Bichir, Taissa Farmiga and Jonas Bloquet and is a spin-off of “The Conjuring 2” which was released in 2016. It follows a priest and a novice to Romania. They are sent there by the Vatican to investigate the mysterious death of a young nun. Once on the site, they confront a malevolent demonic force.
All of the productions from this succession of films have been quite successful. In fact, this franchise can be considered as the most profitable one for Warner Bros. Within the first three days of its release only, “The Nun” earned $53.5 million. It has even surpassed the original movie from this series, “The Conjuring”, which made $41.9 million when it was launched in 2013.
